There is a lot of discussion about big funding for Stara Zagora region in the last years!
23/02/2025There are times when the future doesn't come with a bang, but begins quietly – with a conversation. Such a conversation took place on February 13, 2025 in Galabovo, where the topic of electromobility emerged from the realm of the abstract and took its place on the local agenda.
The project meeting RuralMED Mobility brought together people with different experiences, but with a mutual question: is it possible for sustainable transportation to become a reality outside of big cities? The answer, although ambiguous, began to emerge in the first minutes.
The SZ REDA team presented the project as something more than just another European initiative – as a tool for catching up on a long-delayed development. Because the truth is simple: while cities accelerate the transition to electromobility, small municipalities often remain on hold. And that is where the need is greatest.
The conversation quickly went beyond the presentation. It turned into a lively discussion – about the charging stations that are missing, the opportunities that are just opening up, and that familiar fear that stops many: “What if the battery runs out in the middle of nowhere?” This fear is not just a technical detail – it is symbolic of a larger gap in the infrastructure that RuralMED Mobility aims to fill.
And here came the most important moment – the realization that the solution will not come from outside. It must be built on the spot, through cooperation. That is why the conversations turned to specifics: possible pilot initiatives, building a local charging network, new partnerships between institutions and business.
Sometimes, however, the most important things happen outside the official program. Between a cup of coffee and an informal conversation, ideas are born that do not enter the minutes, but remain as a basis for future actions. In Galabovo, this also happened - quietly, but significantly.
There is a bigger purpose behind these meetings. RuralMED Mobility doesn't just promote electric vehicles – it raises the issue of equal access to sustainable transport, a cleaner environment and better connectivity between people and the places they live.
The meeting in Galabovo did not provide all the answers. But it did something more important – it asked the right questions. And sometimes that is where real change begins.
