Project name: GH2M

Accelerating the deployment of green hydrogen mobility in EU regions

PROJECT SUMMARY

GH2M will enable the participating regions to foster and accelerate the integration of green H2 in their sustainable mobility and infrastructure planning, supporting the decarbonisation of hard-to-electrify areas of the transportation sector and emphasising zero-carbon synergies between urban and other types (e.g., heavy-duty logistics, rail) of end-use mobility applications.

Aim of the Project:

The project aims to accelerate the implementation of green hydrogen mobility in different regions of the European Union.
This initiative is a key step towards achieving the EU's climate neutrality goals by 2050.

The GH2M project is a significant opportunity for EU regions to advance sustainable mobility and contribute to the EU's decarbonisation targets.

The GH2M project is a significant opportunity for EU regions to advance sustainable mobility and contribute to the EU's decarbonisation targets.

Partners:

GH2M brings together 9 partners from 8 EU regions that are currently at different stages of implementing H2-based mobility solutions, namely: Bulgaria, Greece, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Ireland, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden.

Expected results:

The GH2M project has ambitious goals and expects to achieve significant results in both quantitative and qualitative dimensions:

1. Output Indicators
- Number of organizations collaborating across borders: 80 organizations from different European regions are expected to collaborate to fulfill the GH2M objectives. These organizations will exchange good practices, participate in joint workshops and share resources to accelerate the integration of green hydrogen into transport systems.
- Number of jointly developed and implemented pilot actions: The project does not envisage new pilot projects, the emphasis being on the exchange of knowledge and existing practices.
- Number of policy instruments addressed: The project addresses a total of 8 different policy instruments that will be improved through the application of green hydrogen solutions and intermodal transport systems.
- Number of interregional policy learning events organized: 17 interregional events will be organized, which include workshops and trainings for partners aimed at improving their capacities to manage green hydrogen mobility.

2. Result indicators
- Number of good practices identified: 30 good practices are expected to be documented and disseminated, which will provide guidelines and models for the implementation of hydrogen technologies in the transport sector.
- Number of organizations with increased capacity as a result of their participation in project activities: 44 organizations will increase their capacity to develop and manage green mobility policies thanks to their participation in the GH2M project.
- Number of improved policy instruments thanks to the project: Eight policy instruments will be improved by implementing modern practices and sustainable technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions and improving regional development.
3. Results monitoring and sustainability

After the completion of the main phase, the project partners will continue to monitor the results achieved through regular reports and meetings. It is expected that the exchange of knowledge and good practices will continue within the subsequent phase of the project, emphasizing the sustainable integration of the results into regional policies.
These results are fundamental to achieve long-term sustainability of green hydrogen solutions and to overcome regional disparities by creating new opportunities for economic growth and carbon footprint reduction.

Duration of the project: 1 April 2024 – 30 June 2028
